Doesnt have to be: Birth control pills are most effective when taken early in a menstrual cycle. But day 2, 3 or 4 is ok. This is done to prevent the brain from sending signals to the ovary to make an egg. Those signals begin very early in the menstrual cycle. By starting early you decrease that effect.
