Planning a pregnancy. How long should you wait to get pregnant after being on clarithromycin? I took 2 biaxin XL pills 500 mg once daily for 10 days.

Clarithromycin: The elimination half-life of Clarithromycin was about 3 to 4 hours with 250 mg administered every 12 hours but increased to 5 to 7 hours with 500 mg administered every 8 to 12 hours. If you wait 5 half-lives (about 20-35 hours) all the drug should essentially be gone from your body. So if you wait 2 days you should be fine. ...Read more

Although it has not been studied in pregnant humans, a healthcare provider may prescribe biaxin to pregnant women if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
