I have been told I have a lipoma on my back rib at the time was soft since then has gotten bigger, painful and hard is this due to being on top of rib?

Lump gotten larger in forearm near ulnar node area.cant tell if hard/soft. Doesn't move and since bigger,can see w/o feeling area. Node or lipoma?
Have 2 hard marble size lumps by my rt rib and gut. Dr said lipoma but I thought they were only soft. They haven't changed in 10 months. Thoughts?
