Yes & no: Used appropriately these are not a problem. However, most available products are basically bug spray in liquid form or various alcohol preparations. They work by poisoning the lice. Leaving the med on too long, applying too often, inhaling the fumes etc increase the toxicity to the patient. Lice deterent: I have seen shampoos in Health Food and vitamin/supplement stores that contain Tea Tree Oil that are labeled for this purpose. I have also seen products with Neem oil which may be effective (but would likely repel people too!). ...Read more

Freckles? blackheads: I do not think that the problem is lice. It may be blackheads, which is pigments in the sweat glands from another bacteria or detritus or a reaction to the oils in your hair.
