Are lactose free formulas suggested for newborns with gastroenteritis?

Only temporarily: Since babies produce lactase enzyme, but they can lose a lot of their enzyme during diarrhea, lactose-free formula may be needed for a couple weeks after each illness with diarrhea. How do I know if my newborn is lactose intolerant?

How do I know if my newborn is lactose intolerant?

Kids will outgrow both by around 9 to 12 mo of age. A soy formula or a "sensitive" formula help avoid the protein intolerance. ...Read more

Medical Advice: So you went to a Gastroenterologist who went to 4 years of medical school, three years of Internal Medicine Residency and then did a three year fellowship in GI.
