I am a healthy, active 44yr old female who has been taking 100iu ubiquinol coq1o for several years for benign heart palpitations. Is this dose too high? Thinking of going down to 50iu?

Preeclampsia: You are not spared the risk of preeclampsia even if you are "healthy". Preeclampsia is relatively common, especially in 1st pregnancies. Heart palpitations do not make it more likely. Some things that increase your chances. Are diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, kidney disease or a family history of it. I have 15-30 heart palpitations daily. 3 docs say they are benign PVCs. Occasionally it feels like a brief 'speed up' in HR. Is this still benign?

PVCs: Presumably your Doc have seen your ecg recordings with the palpitations and probably holter or event monitors on you. Assuming they have recorded your rhythms they are best positioned to judge whether they are benign. Statistically they would likely be benign especially at at 29 unless you have serious heart disease. ...Read more

Sounds benign: It appears you have had the appropriate tests. I suggest you limit your caffeine intact, and eat a balanced diet. If there's continued concern, you may need a cardiac stress test, which is an ekg during controlled exercise, or chemical injection. Premature ventricular contractions are "extra" beats that occur, and can be caused by caffeine, fatigue, stress, and chemical imbalance. Good luck. ...Read more
