Are Halls Defense Vitamin C Supplement Drops Cough Drops
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
Can daily doses of vitamin c, selenium, & folic acid improve the body's defenses against hpv? What about a decaffeinated green tea extract supplement?
Vitamin C: I recommend people get their Vitamin C from foods- berries, citrus, etc. Oral vitamin C is very safe, so if someone wants to supplement it I won't try to talk them out of it. Usual doses are 500 to 1000mg taken once or twice daily. If too much Vitamin C is taken orally it will harmlessly cause loose stools. ...Read more
That's safe: I'm assuming you are otherwise healthy. It is probably not doing you any good or any harm. Very high doses can produce oxalate toxicity and ruin your kidneys. I think every physician here will agree with me that health doesn't come out of a pill bottle. You're in the prime of your manhood -- perhaps you are already undertaking, or considering, a major fitness ccommitment. More good than vitamins. ...Read more
Any time is good: Our bodies need vitamin c 24 hours a day so it should not make a big difference when you take it. However, vitamin c does not stay in your body for very long so it is wise to take it at least twice a day. I take vitamin c in the morning and evening but it might be even better to take 3x/day. I advise 500mg-2000 mg per dose. See http://www. Vitamincfoundation. Org/faq. Shtml#q7. ...Read more

Not necessarily one: Best. If you really feel like you need to take a vitamin C supplement, as it will always be better to derive it from natural sources like fruits and vegetables, consider purchasing a supplement which is either USP or NSF certified. At least in these instances there is third party validation for the potency, purity, and limits of contamination. ...Read more
Faith in vitamins: I wouldn't trust a pill to keep me healthy in times of stress-- the best thing is to try and get out of the situation as soon as possible. Vitamin C is water soluble which means you can take it 2 or 3 times a day. And yes 500 or 600 mg is OK. I prefer my vit C from plant sources however. Every plant food has vit C- with some of the famous ones being orange juice and lemons. Take care! ...Read more
What side effects occur in a child if he is mildly overdosed with daily supplements of vitamin c?
Mineral deficiencies: Mega dose vitamin c can actually be dangerous. It is true that vitamin c is water soluble & you will excrete any vitamin c that you don't use. However, in order to excrete vitamin c in your urine, you must also excrete minerals as well. Therefore, excess vitamin c can lead to mineral deficiencies, especially a copper deficiency. Be very cautious in megadosing any vitamin or mineral or amino acid. ...Read more
Is eating alot of fruits/veggies high in vitamin c better for body than just taking a supplement?
Yes. You are right!: Vitamins in nature (fruits, vegetables, egg yoke, sauerkraut, fish, . ..) exist in several isomers each of them. That means their molecule looking completely differently in space and all of them go together. That is very very expensive to produce commercially and does not happen. That's why you can not have the wanted benefit. Eat organic foods. Smaller amounts of the natural vitamins have huge effect. ...Read more
Until recently I would have said most vitamin c is created equal, but a relatively new formulation called lypo-spheric c is much better absorbed and can cross cell membranes better. See http://www. Livonlabs. Com/
it is pricier than other forms of c, but if you are motivated you can make your own liposomal vit c at home: see http://www. Quantumbalancing. Com/liposomalc. Htm. ...Read more
I took vitamin C supplement 1000 mg per day. Is that can cause bad effect to my body? Too much acid?
This is okay: It's unlikely to do you any good or harm. The people who get into trouble with Ascorbic Acid have taken more than ten times this much. I'm going to assume you have normal kidney function. Thanks for writing. ...Read more
I have vitamin C dietary supplements. How many can I take? They are 500 mg each. It's the "nature made" brand.
Vitamin c is generally considered a very safe supplement, and has been studied by medical researchers in doses up to 10, 000 mg (that would be 20 of the capsules you say you have) per day.
The us recommended daily allowance for vitamin c is 90 mg/day for men, 75 mg/day for women. So if you took one 500 mg tablet per day you would be getting well over the daily minimum amount suggested by the fda.
Exactly how much you should take is controversial. Recommendations range from the rda above to 2, 000 mg per day (and some are higher). Looking over most of the medical research, most benefits are thought to be attained at a dose of 400-500 mg/day, or one of your tablets.
There is very little risk of anything bad happening to you from too much vitamin c. People often get diarrhea at higher doses (in the 1000-2000 mg/day range), but this goes away when the dose is reduced.
A good source of information about vitamin c is the linus pauling institute at oregon state university (google them). ...Read more

How long does it take to regain normal iron levels? I started at 12% of what I should have, taking supplements, vitamin c, and am gluten & dairy free
Differs for everyone: As with everything, it depends. Men may replete iron faster than women who menstruate. People with certain types of absorption problems in the small intestine may absorb less than others. Your doctor should reevaluate your hemoglobin and iron levels and decide if your dose should be adjusted; rarely, we give iron as a one time IV dose. ...Read more
