Went to take my Lexapro (escitalopram) 20mg QD and was out. Can I take my wife's Celexa 20mg for one dose until I get my refill tomorrow?
Probably: These medications are not equivalent to each other ... Although chemically they're like a parent and child. That said, Lexapro (escitalopram) has a fairly long half life (about 30 hours), so it's probably safest to just skip 1 dose and resume it tomorrow when you have it refilled from the pharmacy. Lexapro (escitalopram) 20 mg is a: standard dose at which there are no significant QT interval issues. Generic is escitalopram. Citalopram has QT issues at 60 mg a day dose so maximum dose is 40 mg a day. Citalopram is not recommended for patients with: congenital long QT syndrome, bradycardia, hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia, recent MI, or uncompensated heart failure. Best regards. ...Read more
