Varicella vaccination - is it recommended for adults?

Varicella vaccination - is it recommended for adults?

Varicella vaccine: Yes. There is a sure way of determining one's immunity level - a varicella titer done by a blood test. Adults need 2 doses, given one month apart. I often recommend non-immune parents to get the vaccine simultaneously when their one-year-old gets it or better still, at least a month or two before their child turns one. In addition, other non-immune family members should also be vaccinated. ...Read more

How safe is it for my daughter to get the recommended one year vaccinations?

How safe is it for my daughter to get the recommended one year vaccinations?

Safer than not to: Vaccine haters in the 80's told us they caused cp, in the 90's crib death & 2000's autism. Court testimony revealed a money making hoax behind the MMR scare and the Dr lost his license to practice. The vaccines have been the single best lifesaver for kids in a hundred years. They are safe and effective as offered. Failure to vaccinate risks death and disability. To me it's a no brainer. ...Read more

Do you recommend the traditional vaccination schedule?

Yes: Yes i do. My kids got it and my grand kids now are getting it. I think it is irresponsible both as a parent and physician not to recommend it. All the theories of causing this and that are disproven. Do bad reactions occur sure, but we know bad reactions happen if they get the disease, look at all the whooping cough that is coming back. We can't count on herd immunity any more! ...Read more

Do you recommend zostrix (capsaicin) vaccination to ease shingles symptoms?

Do you recommend zostrix (capsaicin) vaccination to ease shingles symptoms?

You mean zostavax?: zostrix (capsaicin) is a topical antipain medicine (capsacian). The zoster vaccine is recommended for individuals over 50 who have had chicken pox. I do rcommend it, but it isn't given for shingles symptoms but rather to prevent shingles outbreaks (or reactivation of chicken pox), remember it also is not a guarantee you won't get shingles ...Read more
