One important side effect is drowsiness, which can become significant at higher doses. Operating machinery or driving may become dangerous while taking promethazine. Overdose of Promethazine could result in respiratory arrest and death. Other sedatives such as alcohol, narcotics, tricyclic antidepressants enhance the sedating properties of promethazine.
