Before implantation: Hcg is secreted by the embryo after fertilization but before implantation. The embryo reaches the blastocyst stage before it implants, with an inner cells that becomes the fetus, and trophoblast cells that make HCG and become part of the placenta. A little HCG is produced before implantation, but by the time we can *detect* HCG with a blood or urine pregnancy test implantation has already occurred. ...Read more
Floating & growing.: The embryo floats down the fallopian tube and enters the uterus where it will implant itself in the uterine wall and establish a blood supply to the mother for further nourisment to continue its development. While floating through the fallopian tube, it has enough nourishment inherent in the egg to divide and grow. ...Read more

This blastocyst implants and begins to sort itself out into different layers--the inner group becomes the embryo and the outer layer will work to nourish and protect. At approximately 6-7 weeks from time of fertilization, an embryo begins. ...Read more

Sorry, a follow up question to the previous. Will the morning after pill prevent fertilization/implantation in the egg knowing that they are ovulating?
The morning-after pill works by delaying ovulation. Sperm hang around for several days but no pregnancy will occur if ovulation is delayed until the sperm are all gone.
