Apple Cider Vinegar Mucus In Throat
Doubtful: It is actually part of an old folk remedy for sore throat. It reportedly did away with strep throat (but i would not accept that at face value.) however, it can really damage your teeth. So insure that you rinse well with water. Are you having burning or pain from apple cider vinegar? If so, aloe vera juice ingested a couple times per day can help. ...Read more
Like material that functions to moisten and protect inner body surfaces. The viscous slippery substance that consists chiefly of mucin, water, cells, and inorganic salts and that is secreted as a protective lubricant coating by the cells and glands of the mucous membranes. The free slime of the mucous membranes, composed of secretion of the glands, various salts, ...Read more
Risks: Some people use a couple of teaspoons in other liquids such as juices as a reported way to control weight and improve their mood. Even if this were the case, which I personally question, with continued use, you run the risk of having the acids wear away your tooth enamel. It's a risk I personally would not take. Is it one that you want to? There are better tried and true methods. ...Read more
No: If you believe all you read about apple cider vinegar (it supposedly cures everything), you would be reading uncritically. ...Read more
No: It doesn't do anything to help any thyroid problem. This is an old wife's tale apparently perpetuated on the internet. If you think you have a thyroid problem, see your doctor for real advice and effective treatment if necessary. ...Read more
Not so much: Reflux can be serious. Apple cider vinegar is promoted for everything -- and this alone should tell you something. Something as simple as elevating the head of your bed may help more. Staying trim and fit is a plus; you may not be able to eliminate reflux but you can control the symptoms. Your physician knows how to manage it and when to do endoscopy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Possibly: Apple cider vinegar is acidic, so it is entirely possible it could irritate your throat when you swallow it, especially if you swallow it without diluting it with anything else. If your throat is irritated for some reason, then the vinegar will burn more. It is not generally harmful to swallow it in pure form. Many people do this as a part of a dietary regimen to reduce appetite before meals. ...Read more
More palatable: Apple cider vinegar seems to have entered the rhetoric of naturopathic medicine and organic enthusiasts. It is a source of calories and a minor adjust to the acid-base balance of the body, but has no independent health effects. If you feel you must drink it, mixing with juice might make it more tasty. ...Read more
No: Your colon cleans itself. There is no such thing as "toxic bowel settlement" or any of the other stuff that you've been told is sitting in your colon and making you sick. If you buy into these lies, you will never feel well again. If you were to believe everything you read about apple cider vinegar (it supposedly cures everything), you'd be reading uncritically. I suspect you already know this. ...Read more
Not entirely but...: Bragg's is raw/unpasteurized whereas I'm fairly sure Heinz is pasteurized. Pasteurization degrades some nutrients and enzymes that are beneficial. Also, Bragg's is organic whereas Heinz is not, and apples are in the EWG "Dirty Dozen" and high in pesticide residues. Heinz should have many of the same benefits but, given a choice, I recommend Bragg's. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What's good for a sore throat? I have apple cider vinegar, organic honey, salt, chamomile tea, eggs & rum.
Honey and Tea: If you have honey at home, you might want to try mixing honey and fresh lemon juice in some warm water and sip. Alcohol should be avoided since it is dehydrating. While there is certainly nothing wrong with chamomile tea, peppermint or licorice tea may be more comforting. Apple cider vinegar may well be irritate the throat unless diluted significantly. ...Read more

Nasal Polyps: I have not heard of this one... If you are prone to nasal polyps due to chronic sinusitis, the best thing is to work with your ENT doctor on a regimen of nasal irrigations and steroid sprays to minimize your need for surgery to debulk the polyps.
