Does appendicitis pain feel bareble or is the pain severe and intense? How do you differentiate a tummy ache from constipation and appendicitis?

Does appendicitis pain feel bareble or is the pain severe and intense? How do you differentiate a tummy ache from constipation and appendicitis?

Progression: Appendicitis usually progresses over hours from a dull and vague central discomfort to an increasingly more intense and constant localized right lower quadrant pain. Eventually the pain becomes intense enough that you don't want to move, jiggle, cough, laugh, or even deep breathe. Often there is low grade fever and chills. Constipation is usually more diffuse and has none of the aforementioned. ...Read more

LRQ pain, nausea, constipation, fatigue, pain when pushed on stomach. I don't think its appendicitis. Pain has been there for 2 days. 20 yr old F.

Needs evaluation: Well when things 'go wrong' in the abdomen, it can be bad. You didn't mention fever or chills? There are other organs besides just the appendix, such as the ovary, the 'tube', other segments of bowel, even part of the kidney (the ureter) that could be involved. I would want to know your vital signs, basic blood work and possibly some imaging tests. If you can get all that done ASAP, it would help. ...Read more

Pain in lower right abdomen for 4 days now. Hurts when I press down. Could this be appendicitis? Also constipated and feel nausea

Doctor can evaluate: Lower right abdominal discomfort can be from many things. For pain there, appendicitis is always a concern (pain usually worsens over time, with fever coming on). If one is constipated for several days, stool can back up and cause discomfort or pain. Gallstones and kidney stones can also cause pain. One's primary care doctor or the Emergency Room can evaluate, plus do a pregnancy test if needed. ...Read more

If I suspect I have appendicitis and am constipated can I take laxatives? My bloid resrs snd CT scan were norm. Abdo pain rlq for 16 days

Yes, cautiously: While you may have a reason for the right lower quadrant pain, such as viral gastroenteritis, inflammatory bowel disease (such as crohn's or ulcerative colitis), if you are constipated as your only GI problem (e.g. Not throwing up), then you can take a laxative as prescribed. Since your ct scan is normal, it is unlikely a bowel obstruction, in which case, laxatives are contraindicated. ...Read more
