Aphthous Ulcer Tonsil
Just finished 10 days of amoxicillin for dx strep throat. Nnow developed what seems to be aphthous ulcers. 1 on tonsil. Can I wait it out a few days?
I have small ulcer/white mark on my right side of tonsil, my ENT doc says Aphthous ulcer, hav nose block/water discharge. slight diff swallow, no pain?
Follow ENT Direction: If you have no pain, you should at least do warm saline gargles, but slight difficulty swallowing is an issue. You've not listed what s/he said to do to help with this. They are the expert in their field, and would follow their guidelines for OTC and Rx meds/inhalers needed to resolve your condition as quickly as possible. Not sure of Question: If you have aphthous and/or herpes the palliative treatment is the same. Hot salt water rinses (1tsp salt/10 oz water) 4-5 times/day,7-10 days. Herpes outside the mouth will benefit from Zovirax (acyclovir) or similar topical. See your Dentist if you get herpes, as there are immediate treatments which help if taken right away. Hi is it normal to have recurrent ulcers in the mouth approx every 2 to 3 weeks upper & bottom lip sometimes in same places Dr said aphthous ulcer?

Nothing really: Unfortunately not much can be done for those pesky buggers. They take about 14 days to run their course. It is counterproductive to try to put anything on them. They need to dry out so to speak. If you get them frequently...your doctor can give you a prescription for Acyclovir.
