Not sure of Question: If you have aphthous and/or herpes the palliative treatment is the same. Hot salt water rinses (1tsp salt/10 oz water) 4-5 times/day,7-10 days. Herpes outside the mouth will benefit from Zovirax or similar topical. See your Dentist if you get herpes, as there are immediate treatments which help if taken right away. Maybe for 2 weeks : Hello katie, the apthous ulcer will usually go away in 2 weeks if you don't do anything. If you rinse with listerine (purple or green bottle) when it first arises..It will stay small or almost not develope and it will be gone in days or 1 week.
