Psychology:Adult acquaintenance with daily manic episodes is visiting for one mo. Besides empathy for this person with the disorder what else helps?

Be clear w/in: yourself about how much time you will spend w/friend when manic. If not, he will run your schedule and your day. You can give him 1/2 hour, for example, when he's like that and then have him entertain himself until later. You can tell him this beforehand. Sounds like he is being treated professionally. If not, provide a referral. Peace and good health. ...Read more

I. Id like to know what's the best medication or best set of medications for people with disturbing, racing and intrusive OCD thoughts?

Glad you asked: I'll defer to the psychiatrists (i'm not one) for their answer. But i wanted to chip in... (1) finding the right medication for an individual patient is often a matter of trial and error; (2) ocd isn't being managed completely without some insight / behavioral therapy; (3) attention to things going on in your life that you or some intervention might improve may be worthwhile. Good luck. ...Read more

How can I help someone who has bouts of uncontrollable crying, indecision, panic etc. Over a key professional decision?

Vitamin therapy: I know that this sounds weird, but emotions are initiated by the "automatic" brain. High calorie malnutrfition causes this part of the brain to become too easily activated.
