Anxiety Rebound While Trying To Get Of Ativan
I suffer depression anxiety trying to taper off diazepam 15mg for 3 years what is a safe reduce without withdraw?
Lower 1 mg pet month: Have your doctor provide valium in the 2 mg tablet form that you can break down to 1 mg. You can then use those to tape your valium down by 1 mg a month. This will be a barely perceptible to your central nervous system and will allow it time to recover. Take it slow and easy and in months you will be off valium. There's absolutely no need to rush and taking it faster than that is likely to make you prone to withdrawal symptoms that could be quite comfortable. Best wishes. ...Read more

Have taken 1mg Ativan (lorazepam) every day for 7 straight days trying to get anxiety under control. Can I stop cold turkey or need to taper? Scared of Seizures
You're wise to ask!: It's good to get off Ativan (lorazepam) - your Dr should help you do it safely, but if you need to do it alone, do taper over the next few weeks and watch for symptoms. Here's good info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam#Withdrawal Best is to work w/ doc who prescribed but I'm glad you'll be off soon. It's a risky drug even if it does help when needed. Best! ...Read more
It depends: Rebound anxiety is not inevitable, although there are many individuals who do experience it. A lot depends on the rate of tapering, the dosage before tapering, how long someone has been taking the medication and the severity of their anxiety. At times it is also unclear how much rebound is due to the med vs situational. I recommend expecting mild to moderate short-term symptoms with a plan to cope. ...Read more
How to safely taper a 0-0-1 mg dose of alprazolam ? Also can I start mirtazapine to prevent relapse? (anxiety and depression)
"Depends!": It is necessary to take into account how many mg/day you've taken over how long a time... To get an idea of how much your nervous system has become dependent on it. It takes 4-5 days, in general, to establish a "steady state" level of a drug in the blood, generally, cutting the dose in 1/2 every 4-5 days, then discontinue once you finish 0.25 mg/d...Will avoid any withdrawal symptoms. ...Read more
When your detoxing from Xanax (alprazolam) is there
something you can take to help symptoms
of panic attack and insomnia?
Xanax (alprazolam): Xanax (alprazolam) must be gradually tapered, so that withdrawal symptoms can be avoided. There are other benzodiazepines which could be used also, but xanax (alprazolam) is a little different from them. The other issue that can arise is recurrence of the original anxiety problems for which xanax (alprazolam) was prescribed . Please work with your doctor to determine what's what with you, and see what's needed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I'm on Lexapro (escitalopram) and clonazepam. I want to wean off of clonazepam slowly. Why would i want to use melatonin plus tofranil instead of just melatonin?
Trying to decide which medication to taper off of first- Lamictal, Trazadone, or Klonopin (clonazepam). Have trouble sleeping even with Klonopin (clonazepam) and Lamictal.
Why?: It is not clear why you would wish to do this. It sounds like your problems are insufficiently treated, with a continuing disruption in sleep. Perhaps the doses are too low; perhaps their timing needs to be changed; perhaps the medicines need to be replaced. Consult your psychiatrist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Zoloft (sertraline) and headaches. Can I try another ssri and which do you recommend for panic and anxiety. Thank you ?
I take Ativan (lorazepam) PRN for anxiety. My spouse and I want to start trying for a baby. How long in advance of trying do I need to stop taking Ativan (lorazepam)?
As soon as you can: Maybe you could clarify in terms of how often you mean by "PRN." Ideally you would want to be off of medications that have potentially teratogenic effects as early as possible. You should not do this without direct consultation and support of your doctor as you don't want to run the risk of experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Have an open and honest talk with your doctor about your plans. ...Read more

Can Zoloft (sertraline) take the place of klonopin for panic attacks and ocd? Have been on .5 mg k for 10 years. Want to get pregnant and need to stop.
Is it ok to take 200mg Suntheanine (L-theanine) while on .125mg of Lorazepam? Tapering off benzos & having severe rebound anxiety. Thanks.
Shouldn't be problem: Another option is to use an anticonvulsant. I have withdrawn a number of people who had really major problems getting off benzos by adding either Neurontin (gabapentin) or valproate to the regimen, tapering down and off the benzos, and then tapering the anticonvulsant. Other option could be use a compounding pharmacy to cut the 0.125 mg into even smaller decrements and continue tapering. ...Read more
I have an addiction to xanax to where I have seizures will temazapam help get rid of withdraws and reduce chance of seizure?
Trying to stop using alcohol to control sudden anxiety from adhd. On Adderall for 3 years with success. Xanax (alprazolam) or Valium option. Pls no addicton respon?
Alcohol wrong answer: Alcohol is short-acting, causes physical dependence, which means larger and larger doses are required over time, and is toxic. Benzos may have some of the same issues, although less organ toxicity. If you have been prescribed stimulants for your ADHD, the increased anxiety may be side effect from those, and lower doses or different med may help.Antidepressants have good anxiety effects, fewer SEs ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
