I have taken Ativan (lorazepam) in the past for anxiety. I have been out of it for over a year, I have a10 flight of which I am very anxious, how can I get a few?

Will .25 Ativan (lorazepam) give me a full nights sleep without anxiety interruption waking me up and then i can't get backtosleep. Also started taking 40mgpaxil?
Probably not : All tranquilizers will relax you at first, but then the effect wears off if you continue to take them. They are best taken occasionally rather than regularly. There is not a sleep med that will always let you fall asleep quickly, sleep all night, and wake up without feeling groggy. Try playing relaxing music as you go to sleep. Also sometimes melatonin can help. Also your Paxil (paroxetine) may help. ...Read more
Does ativan (lorazepam) help calm you down? Have anxiety but also get angry very quickly, will this help for the anger/rage aswell?
Have taken 1mg Ativan (lorazepam) every day for 7 straight days trying to get anxiety under control. Can I stop cold turkey or need to taper? Scared of Seizures
You're wise to ask!: It's good to get off Ativan (lorazepam) - your Dr should help you do it safely, but if you need to do it alone, do taper over the next few weeks and watch for symptoms. Here's good info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam#Withdrawal Best is to work w/ doc who prescribed but I'm glad you'll be off soon. It's a risky drug even if it does help when needed. Help. I want to get off Ativan. Been on 1 mg 3 times a day for 22 years. Still have anxiety. Makes me so sleepy. Now I have COPD also. What can I do?
Switch: talk to a psychiatrist or neurologist regarding switching to a different anti-anxiety agent that is not a benzodiazepine (ex: Buspar or Wellbutrin) which takes 4 weeks on average to kick in, once it does very slowly titrate off Ativan to avoid withdrawal side effects (increased anxiety, seizures etc), do not stop Ativan abruptly. ...Read more
Bad anxiety (which i get pretty much every day) I am on prescription 2mg ativan can I take another medication like klonopin (clonazepam)?
Only 1 benzo : I wouldn't recommend taking more than 1 benzodiazepine at one time, unless your doctor is cross tapering off one and onto another. With 2 of these drugs, you risk more side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, and even amnesia. There are other medications which can help anxiety without causing tolerance like benzodiazepines do. Please discuss with your physician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not been sleeping so well the past few nights, making my anxiety worse and every time I stand up I get dizzy. Tried taking my ativan (lorazepam) and helped a litt?
Sleep and anxiety: If your sleep pattern changed significantly I always ask what has been happening? Was there some new stressful event or did anything change? For anxiety I always recommend seeing a good therapist, medication may help but is not the long term answer for most people. Regarding insomnia though, it is much more dangerous for us to be drowsy driving than to be on safe medication-consid. talk to your ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I took an ativan (lorazepam) for my dizziness from labyrinthitis and anxiety attack last night, only got a few hours sleep if that. If I get anxious and take another ativan (lorazepam) will it knock me out I can't sleep yet?
Not a good idea: Chasing symptoms with Ativan/lorazepam is a bad idea. Settle yourself in a dark, relaxing place, practice your deep breathing/meditations, and you should fall asleep. Your anxiety will be less when you wake up. Ativan (all benzodiazepines) are terribly addicting. You should avoid them, managing your anxiety with non-drug methods mentioned above. If meds absolutely needed, safer ones available ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I threw away the Ativan that the doctor gave me because it doesn't mix well with my other meds plus i don't want to get addicted,i drink tea every night for anxiety and i'm wondering which of these is the best- valerian root, kava,or chamomile?
See below.: It's great you decided to try less addictive ways to reduce your anxiety. Chamomile is probably the safest tea to help you relax. You may want to drink less if you take aspirin or another blood thinner with it. Valerian is helpful for sleep and anxiety, but it may cause insomnia, upset stomach and irregular heart beat in some people. Kava has been linked with a few reports of liver disease. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When I get shortness of breath, fatigue and chest pain right in the middle, 2 mg of ativan (lorazepam) makes it go away in an hour or less,is itheart or anxiety?
Anxiety. : It can be extremely difficult and possibly consequential distinguishing between chest pain from a cardiac etiology versus chest pain from anxiety. Presumably you have been diagnosed with With anxiety if you have been provided Ativan (lorazepam). While taking Ativan (lorazepam) could potentially make symptoms from heart pathology improve this is also less likely than improving anxiety. Discuss this with your doctor. ...Read more
I take Ativan (lorazepam) PRN for anxiety. My spouse and I want to start trying for a baby. How long in advance of trying do I need to stop taking Ativan (lorazepam)?
As soon as you can: Maybe you could clarify in terms of how often you mean by "PRN." Ideally you would want to be off of medications that have potentially teratogenic effects as early as possible. You should not do this without direct consultation and support of your doctor as you don't want to run the risk of experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Have an open and honest talk with your doctor about your plans. ...Read more
