Different causes: If the shoulder discomfort is worse with motions, there could be a chronic tendonitis or rotator cuff problem. Anxiety shouldn't have any effect. Something else: Your symptoms don't sound like either cardiac (nor anxiety-related) symptoms especially given your age and you did not mention if you had any cardiac symptoms, your symptoms do appear to be referred from another source, perhaps stomach or esophagus. I suggest seeing your primary care physician who can evaluate your symptoms in more detail and examine you. ...Read more

In JAN I had bad chest/shoulder pain and went to ER. They said anxiety. Pain in arm continued for a month. Now I can't catch breath, & have itching/burning in upper left part of abs. Heart issue ruled out. Xanax/PPIs don't treat. Is it really stress?

Stress: If you have given your Dr all of the information and his examination is normal and basic labs are normal including EKG and your family history of early heart disease or sudden death is negative then not likely heart disease.
