Hi, I am taking celexa 20 mg for depression and anxiety and klonopin (clonazepam) for anxiety and panic. Could I replace the klonopin (clonazepam) with amitriptyline safely?

Not enough info: Switching medications requires knowledge of your entire clinical situation. You need to discuss with prescribing doctor reason for changing any med and how to do so. Also you must be seen and carefully monitored for symptoms and side effects. I hope this helps. ...Read more

What seems to work better for general anxiety..Klonopin (clonazepam) or ativan?

Similar: Both work similarly. Klonopin (clonazepam) is longer acting then ativan. Both can be addicting. Take only as prescribed. Each person reacts differently to each medication, one is not necessarily better then the other. It is about what is better for you. For generalized anxiety there are other medications that are not addicting. Speak to your doctor about treatment options. ...Read more

Which is a better benzo for extreme anxiety? Klonopin (clonazepam) or ativan? I think ativan from my experience, but i want to know from a doctors view point.

Which is a better benzo for extreme anxiety? Klonopin (clonazepam) or ativan? I think ativan from my experience, but i want to know from a doctors view point.

NOT Ativan (lorazepam): Short acting benzos i.e. Ativan ; xanax (alprazolam) are effective against anxiety, however, if used long term for treatment , they are associated with gradual increase in baseline ; morbid anxiety levels ( worsen anxiety) . Both are faster acting than klonopin. We dont use benzos as sole treatment. Rather have to be used with certain, not all, antidepressants which modulate and regulate anxiety. Good luck. ...Read more

I have anxiety/tapering off klonopin (clonazepam). Used to be that my h.R. = really fast. Now h.R. Is normal and my upper body moves suddenly. Labs all ok! am i ok

Depends upon speed: Of the taper and what the original dose was you were taking and how long you were taking it. The symptoms you are experiencing are called myoclonus. It can be followed by seizures. I would recommend that you contact your treating physician and find out what you should do next. Do not drive or operate dangerous machinery or take a shower or a bath until this issue is settled. Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday. ...Read more

Neither: The best strategy is to get off the benzodiazapines all together start an SNRI (i.e.cymbalta or the like) stop smoking, decrease alcohol intake to 1 or 2 alcohol drinks a week, improve diet and add exercise into your daily routine at least 30min per day (i.e.brisk walking) ...Read more

Who diagnosed the: movements as "involuntary" and "caused by anxiety"? Clonazepam works for many types of organic involuntary movements as well as anxiety. Why did this person taper you off of it? I wouldn't trust a psychiatric nurse practitioner to guess my weight, much less have any competence to diagnose an organic vs psychogenic movement disorder. See a neurologist. ...Read more

Is Yohimbine safe to use while on Fluoxetine, Abilify, (aripiprazole) Buproprion and a very low dose of Propranolol? Meds for anxiety. Klonopin as needed.

The risk here is: Between All the others you list! Some are very risky! Be sure your provider is watching you closely and try to stop some. ED is not your biggest worry and Yohimbine has side effects. Be careful - if your provider is not a psych specialist - you might want a consult when multi-pharma issues arise. Add CBT Tx for best outcome and less risks. You're too young for so many meds. Best! ...Read more
