IBS/anxiety d/o: You need to discuss this with the GI doctor seeing you. Both of these medications have potential for addiction and should not be taken without a clear indication. If they treat your anxiety effectively they are not likely to be responsible for abdominal pain. ...Read more

The best treatment for IBS, especially when associated with anxiety, is to treat the anxiety effectively. Benzos, including Xanax, (alprazolam) are NOT the first line treatment for chronic anxiety. Psychotherapies of various kinds and SSRI/SNRI medications are generally better. Increase fiber in your diet. ...Read more

Need evaluation: You need a comprehensive evaluation. New onset of reflux is not necessarily related to anxiety. Ibs includes other symptoms you do not mention. Gad is a chronic maladaptive response to stress and stress is inevitable. Maybe: Without other symptoms, cannot even try to offer a reasonable diagnosis; but other options, diverticulitis, retrocecal appendicitis, pelvic or other bowel inflammatory disease, and interstitial cystitis come quickly to mind.
