If it was planned and wanted the intensity of feelings can be so unbearable that it seems there is no feeling. The best thing to do is get treatment, even if you don't think you need it. ...Read more

Can a woman's stress and anxiety cause a miscarriage of a otherwise normal baby?

Can a woman's stress and anxiety cause a miscarriage of a otherwise normal baby?

Not likely, but...: Pregnancy can be stressful to some women, but more commonly has a calming affect on women, anxiety reducing, relaxation increasing. Also, will not likely change the development/normality of the in-utero fetus. Premature labor or adverse symptoms experienced--and certainly alcohol, many drugs--by the mother can affect the baby. Some normal rxns: It can be very painful to deal with a miscarriage. Often the woman is very apprehensive about losing her next pregnancy to miscarriage. See below: Hello. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Although you will need to talk with your physician, if there are no OB complicating factors then you should be able to work on conceiving. Can you tell me about pregnancy after miscarriage, how keep anxiety under control?

Relax: Miscarriage can occur for many reasons related to the fetus. It is estimated that 30 percent of pregnancies end early on before they are known. For a mother who has experienced one miscarriage, there is a 90 percent chance of having a healthy pregnancy and baby afterward. To help with anxiety, be sure to get exercise, enough sleep, have a good diet and remember the odds are on your side.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/25/health/25brod.html?_r=0 ...Read more
