Antihistamine Prickly Heat
I have a heat rash on my right hand and was wondering if antihistamines would help or if not what is the best way to treat it?
Unknown rash on hand: Not sure what you mean by a heat rash. Other than hives and urticaria i don't know of a rash that will benefit much from antihistamines. About heat rashes...: Some people do get itching and rashes from doing sports and getting hot. If it is from histamine release, one can try taking Claritin (loratadine) or Zyrtec, 1/2 hour or more before sports. If it is from the mid-day heat, try sports at sunrise. If it is from blocked sweat glands, a sauna 3 times a week may help, by keeping the sweat glands flowing to help prevent blockage. A dermatologist can help, too. ...Read more
