Not normal Treatment: Standard therapy is doxycycline and if this doesn't work , or for advanced disease rocrphin. Taking several antibiotics is unusual. Make sure you are seeing someone with experience in Lyme disease and the diagnosis is correct. ...Read more

Eat after meds: I'm assuming that you're probably taking doxycycline, since it's the usual first choice antibiotic for lyme disease. Doxy capsules can irritate the esophagus if they get stuck on the way down. To prevent this, eat bread or another bland solid food (not milk or dairy) right after taking doxy to push the pills down. If you've already irritated your esophagus you may need to see your doc to get meds. ...Read more

YES: Antibiotics are highly successful in treating early lyme disease; the earlier treatment begins after infection the better. However, many doctors give inadequate treatment, such as Doxycycline 100 mg 2x/day for 10 days.
