It is not 100%, but still the "standard of care." it is sometime not used because of penicillin allergies or because of younger age (adolescent/teen-more difficult with schedule--school/sports etc) due to required frequency of use --4x/day for 10 days.. Not sure.: Unlikely that he has infection. Much more likely that he has irritation which should get better with time. However, although not mentioned specifically i assume he is taking ant rejection meds for his kidney. In that case should watch carefully for further signs that things are not going well. ...Read more
