Fluid build up in inner ear, lymph node swelling and severe back pain. Antibiotics not working - what could be potential causes?

Fluid build up in inner ear, lymph node swelling and severe back pain. Antibiotics not working - what could be potential causes?

Several conditions: It sounds like your eustachian tubes are not venting your ears until higher pressure has built up. Lymph node swelling suggests inflammation and many different conditions can cause them to swell. Infection is only one of them. Some such as mastoiditis can be very hard to clear even with the right antibiotic. I suggest you see an Otorhinolaryngologist (ENT) to help you sort this out. ...Read more

Trace of Leukocytes trace blood in dip test. TAH 10 weeks ago. Bladder resection. 1course of antibiotics & no bugs. Bladder, tummy, back pain. Causes?

Your UA result: Trace leukocytes is actually a fairly normal finding and not really associated with infection. You had recent surgery, so I would expect to see mild inflammation (leukocyte esterase) and likely trace blood as well. I would be concerned with large blood and nitrite positive or large leukocyte esterase. Large WBCs also some concern. Yours is fine ...Read more

I have a UTI, and have gone through 2- 7 day cycles of antibiotics, now on Hiprex. I have back pain, and think it's my kidneys. What should I do?

UTI: Uncomplicated UTI's usually clear up easily with today's antibiotics. Medications like Cipro (ciprofloxacin) usually clear uncomplicated uti in a few days. ...Read more

I am taking antibiotics for a UTI but having major lower back pain is this normal?

See doctor asap: It is possible your urinary tract infection has made its way up to your kidneys, something we call pyelonephritis. When we diagnose a UTI we prescribe antibiotics most likely to help. Sometimes that doesn't happen and the antibiotics need to be changed. In either case, you should see a doctor as soon as possible, especially if you feel your symptoms have worsened despite being on antibiotics. ...Read more

I am taking a course of antibiotics for UTI. But I still have the burning sensation after urination and back pain in kidney area.?

Need urine re-tested: U may still have an active uti. Antibiotics u r taking may not be effective against the bacteria causing your UTI so u may need to be on a different antibiotic. I have had several urinalyses with blood and/or leukocytes. Symptoms are back pain, fatigue and letharg. Treated with antibiotics but not better....

Need culture: If the urine has not been sent for culture to make sure the infection can be treated successfully with the antibiotic you have been given, that needs to be the first step. With emerging resistance of many bacteria to more and more antibiotics, you may need a different one. Also, make sure you take all of your medicine as prescribed, not just enough to get you to feel a little better. ...Read more

I've been on antibiotics for two weeks now but still seem to have a chest infection and have started to have back pain around my ribs. I have asthma.

Treatment failure: Symptoms of an illness that will respond to a particular antibiotic usually start to improve within 3-4 days if the appropriate antibiotic was prescribed, and they were taken as directed. Relapse or persistence of symptoms is generally regarded as a treatment failure or inaccuracy of the original diagnosis (i.e. viral not bacterial). Your asthma complicates the issue, and you should be re-checked ...Read more

Maybe: There are any number of things that can bring on a flare up of lupus. It's doubtful the lupus caused the infection but the infection could have caused a flare-up which is causing your chest & back pain.
