I've been diagnosed with staph infection (MSSA) in my nose 2x within the past 6 months. Treated with antibiotics but comes back. Will it ever go away?

Probably: You dont know you have a staph infection. You dont know if you even have an infection, much less the exact bacteria which might be causing it. And physicians are here to help you. The other concern would also be if the bacteria developed resistance while on therapy. See a doctor: Staph infections are hard to self-diagnose; all you can really say is that you have an inflamed area, be it from infection, venous stasis, or other reasons. See below: It depends what type of staph infection you are referring to. An abscess would need drainage. A cellulitis or soft tissue infection could be treated with oral antibiotics but if severe or associated with fever and toxicity intravenous antibiotics would be better until the sepsis was controlled. Staphylococcus is a: bacterium that can cause variety of infxns—skin, lungs, wounds, blood, etc. I suspect itching comes from alprim (sulfa-based antibiotics often cause itching) so tell doc so (s)he can change to different one.
