What's a good antibiotic ointment to use over stitches after rhinoplasty? And easiest way to get all dried blood out?

Bacitracin...: I tell my patients to use bacitracin for the first fish days followed by vaseline/aquaphor until the crusting on the incision line is gone. At that point, no ointment is needed. It is common for antibiotic ointment to accrue if the incision are not cleaned appropriately. Consult with your surgeon for their personal preference, but dilute hydrogen peroxide used gently cleans incision well. ...Read more

How to make infected wound heal faster? I've got my oral antibiotic and antibiotic ointment, how long does it takes to heal? What should be on my diet?

Patience.: If you take your antibiotic and apply the ointment, it will heal. Give it time. If it stops improving, the bacteria may be resistant to that particular antibiotic, and you should call your doctor. But as long as it's improving, however slowly, let it continue to heal. There is no way to artificially speed up this process, including modifying your diet. Just eat healthy and be patient. ...Read more

Dr has diagnosed my 5 &half year old son with phimosis, do we really have to go for operation? They have given antibiotic, ointment course for a while

Depends: Phimosis is the natural state, meaning the foreskin covers the barb of the penis. The simplest would be a circumcision but that is not the only procedure available. A discussion of the benefits or drawbacks of your alternatives would be worthwhile. ...Read more

I have two 1 inch length wounds about 1, too 2 centameters deep what's the best to use iodine or antibiotic ointment?

Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing and antibiotic ointment changed every other day and protected from trauma. ...Read more

Will an antibiotic ointment help a boil that has not entirely bursted?

Maybe, maybe not: External applications of abx ointments can help stop the spread of the boils germs once it empties, but is unligely to get inside the boil and kill the germs. Appling moist heat to the area often brings the boil to a point it will drain and then heal. Keep the area clean and it should heal well.
