After antibiotics for cough had sorethroat colds fever cough again. Now no more colds fever sorethroat but cough still lingering, do I need antibiotics?
Probably not . : Your cough might just be drainage from the back of your throat due to allergies , the cold weather, ; viruses .You may want to try any allergy medicines with expectorant if you need to thin out your mucus . Drink plenty of warm liquids, honey with tea, chicken broth , warm chocolate drinks , coffee etc.If you develop fever and your condition worsened, time to go back to your doctor for an exam. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3yr old has this intermittent painful lump behind her rt ear, at the base of her jaw.Took antibiotics but came back.No cough & colds, no drainage.
Rule out dental: If she had this issue resolve a bit with antibiotics and then it came back then take her to a dentist or pediatric dentist to rule out oral infection. Once that has been ruled out and the lump is still there then take her to a pediatrician for further evaluation. ...Read more
Im currently having cough and colds right now, can i ask what is the best antibiotic i need to take? Thank you.
Upper respiratory: Many of our colds are viral infections and antibiotics will not help at all. Rest, ibuprofen, decongestants and plenty of fluid help most, along with time. Any lingering symptom, talk to your dr again and mention the possibilities of asthma, reactive airway disease, acid reflux, and having a chest xray. Take care! ...Read more
I am finishing a course of antibiotics. It has been a week and I don't feel any more cold sypmtoms but I still have a cough. The constant cough produces mucus.
Follow up with MD: generally antibiotics not for cold (viral), but for bacteria that can arise in setting of cold. Mucus production can be in setting of either, but green or dark yellow mucus suggests possible bacterial infection. See your MD for followup if prolonged, shortness breath, hi fever, blood in sputum, nausea/vomit, and other red flags beyond a lingering cold. I assume no history of asthma or smoking. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why does my 3.5 year old keep getting colds, cough specially during winters. In 4 months she has been on antibiotics 3 times. How to prevent this.
Recurring URI: Young children often get ill by being exposed to other children, who carry different viruses. Also, during the winter, when heat is on, there is a problem with humidification of inspired air ()which is lacking that may lead to illness. Most disturbing is the fact that most of these illnesses are viral in nature, which do not require nor respond to antibiotics. Ask pediatrician for a specialist. ...Read more
