Anti Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody
Coeliac Disease.: This is a test for the autoantibody to the transglutaminase protein. These are found in coeliac disease. This is a sign, that there is a reaction to transglutaminase protein and its binding with gliadin, a wheat protein, as well as cross reaction with the small intestine. Thus, patients cannot get nutrition from foods containing gliadin, and need a gluten-free diet.. ...Read more
The body is composed of tissue that are classically described as beiing derived from three basic embyonic layers known as the endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm that then differentiate into the structures that compose the body such as skin, soft tissues, bone, muscle, organs, etc. Stem cells are not differentiated and have the potential to ...Read more
Are elevated tissue transglutaminase antibodies a possible reason for sneddons syndrome because of their effect on thrombin and the endothelia lining?
Bad fit: Glad you're interested in basic pathology. Not a bad conjecture. But if this were the case, sneddon's would run with gluten enteropathy. It doesn't. Under the microscope, sneddon's is a proliferative endarteritis with lymphocytes and macrophages, not what we see in antibody-antigen mediated vasculitis. ...Read more
My 13y/o daughter has type 1 diabetes. She recently had blood work and her tissue transglutaminase antibody IgA came back high at 39, why is this?
Celiac sprue screen: People with type i diabetes are at extra risk for some of the other autoimmune diseases including gluten enteropathy. What her physician will do this this information remains to be seen -- your daughter's old enough to talk and participate in any decisions such as a possible trial of a gluten-free diet. ...Read more
Could this be celiac? Blood work was tissue transglutaminase iga auto antibodies 5 units, tsh cascade 2.5, gastrin level 17. Endoscopy showed grade 2 esophagitis, erosion in the antrum, congestion and edema in the second part of the duodenum and a 5-
Depends...: If the test was performed to identify whether you have celiac disease, an unequivocally elevated ttg value is diagnostic for celiac disease. If you are IgA deficient, and the only ttg assayed was iga, you may miss a diagnosis of celiac disease due to a falsely negative result. If you have celiac disease, ttg can be used to assess how compliant you may be with strict dietary gluten avoidance. ...Read more
Celiac disease : Since 1997, tissue transglutaminase has been recognized to be the autoantigen pathophysiologically recognized by the immune system that leads to celiac disease. Testing IgA antibodies to ttg is a diagnostic marker that for diagnosing celiac disease that is pretty reliable and relatively inexpensive. There can be false pos and false neg, though. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Anti-transglutaminas: Antibodies that bind to transglutaminase could indicate the presence of celiac disease. This is a sugggestive test only. Negative testing does not definitively rule-out celiac dz and positive testing does not confirm the diagnosis. An intestinal biopsy would be the most helpful test. ...Read more
Tissue transglutaminase IgA resulted in 2.26. Igg resulted in .47. Does that necessarily mean I have celiac disease?
Looked normal: Iga ttg below 19 u is considered normal. Unless you had an IgA deficiency, i wonder why igg ttg was ordered? If you indeed had an IgA deficiency, then even the slightly positive igg titer would warrant hla genetic testing. If the figures provided were in units, then you do not have celiac disease. ...Read more
My baby have high sgot191.8u/l, sgpt189.5u/l, GGT 278u/l n birilubin5.2umol/l.He is on antibiotic when do the blood test. Didmy baby have liver disease?
Abnormal liver tests: The numbers you gave show your baby has elevated liver enzymes and high bilirubin level. There are many reasons why these are high. If your baby is on an antibiotic for infection the infection - if serious - could be causing the liver to be inflamed and cause the higher numbers. Your baby's doctors can do other tests to see if the liver is having problems. ...Read more
