Protection wears off: The protection provided by a tetanus shot usually provides ample levels of circulating antibody protection for up to ten years. After that point it fades & the person may develop tetanus if exposed. Protection from tetanus & several other bacteria based vaccines does not last as long as most viral vaccines & must be boosted periodically to maintain protection. ...Read more

Taken full course of anti rabies vaccine last month again exposure and received 4 doses of anti rabies vaccine exposure again then am i safe rabies?

Taken full course of anti rabies vaccine last month again exposure and received 4 doses of anti rabies vaccine exposure again then am i safe rabies?

Depends: on whether you received rabies immune globulin or the vaccine or both, which I assume was the case. Immune globulin offers temporary protection after exposure. The vaccine induces your own antibody production. Once you have received the vaccine, you will no longer be given the immune globulin after exposure but will be given the vaccine after exposure. In other words, each exposure requires vaccine administration but only the first requires immune globulin.http://www.cdc.gov/rabies/medical_care/ ...Read more

Could tdap( diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis) shots cause pain for over a week?

After an injection, it is best to use cool compresses to the area for the first 24 hours - then change to warm compresses (not too hot!). Also, gentle massage to the area helps resolve the swelling. ...Read more

Yes: Since it has been more than 5 years since your last booster, you should get one even though there are no signs of infection/inflammation. Make sure that you get a Tdap, as we now know you need pertussis boost as well and you would not have gotten that back in 2005. ...Read more
