Is taking iodine helpful when exposed to radiation via CT scans /multip. X-rays? The japanese took it after bomb and nuclear disaster.
See answer: Iodine “tablets” doesn’t prevent damage from radiation per se, but blocks the uptake of radioactive iodine. After nuclear disasters in addition to emitted “waves”, radioactive isotopes such as radioactive iodine are created. Taking the iodine supplement only blocks those – and would have no benefit in a ct scanner to prevent concerns from x-radiation exposure. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Frequency is a key: issue because energy per photon correlates with the frequency of EMR. Study: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_radiation. Additionally, issue is not just EMR energy transmitted but absorbed (versus just passing through without apparent effect) combined with biologic responses, thus no one 100% understands. Heard pet scan expose equal radiation as ct.What will be the radiation for pet +ct which are using nowadays combined? Is it double the CT radiation?!
Variable: The exact radiation you get from ct and pet/cts varies based on the used protocol. Roughly speaking a diagnostic ct gives you a rad dose of 10-15 msv. Pet/cts are often done with low-dose ct, so instead of 10-15 msv you get 1-2 msv from the ct. For the pet portion is approximately 8-12 msv. So a regular pet/ct is approx 12-14 msv and if you add a diagnostic ct you get 10-15 msv more. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

There's a lot of hysteria about "black mold" perpetuated by companies that charge exorbitant prices to eradicate it...it's not a big health risk. ...Read more
