Which antihistamine is best for itching ( eczema ) ?

Which antihistamine is best for itching ( eczema ) ?

For children with significant itching at night, i'll use Atarax (hydroxyzine) as it helps itching and causes drowsiness to help them sleep. While Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is inexpensive and will help, it lasts about 6 hours and some people have drowsiness and slow reaction time. ...Read more

Can Benadryl (diphenhydramine) help relieve itching from dyshidriotic excema - it itches so bad, right in between my fingers :p?

It will do nothing for your itch or your dermatitis. A potent steroid cream or gel will help you & is safe. Sometimes a few doses of oral steroid are useful, such as Prednisone 20mg alternate days for 3-5 doses. Usually it responds to clobetasol cream. ...Read more
