I take Xanax (alprazolam) XR 1mg and celexa 10mg. Just started celexa yesterday. Can I take Tums with this combination. What about 20mg of omeprazole?

Caution!: Omeprazole raises the blood levels of Celexa which can lead to serious side effects. In general the highest dose of Celexa while on Omeprazole is 20mg per day. You really need to ask your doctor or prescriber to guide you as I do not know enough about your general health.
As far as alternating xanax (alprazolam) and Celexa my opinion is that this is not a good idea. Celexa is taken every day. ...Read more

Taking omeprazole-20 twice and Magaldrate antacid but still have gas at midnight which awakes me. What can I add for midnight gas problem? Pls. Advise.

Neither are for gas: Both of the agents aim at ↓ing acid, omeprazole by ↓secretion from stomach parietal cells, magaldrate by neutralizing acid already secreted. Gas is mostly swallowed air; very little, if any, produced from digestion; some exceptions for bacteria in colon. Options: ↓ed swallowed air, avoid carbonated drinks, exercise/walk in evening, try simethicone, etc. Subconscious, dream activity a major issue. ...Read more

Sir, for my normal gas problem can I take renitidine while on isotretinion for acne? If not which group of antacid will be best for me during the drug

U can take: Ranitidine (histamine 2 blocker) or any antacid (mylanta, maalox) with Isotretinoin without any drug interaction. Don't take the antacid and Isotretinoin at the same time or space them apart by at least 4 hours so that the absorption of the latter won't be affected. Take care! Http://www. Greenmedinfo. Gas buildup: If you want to reduce postprandial gastrointestinal gas buildup you have to learn which foods are the culprit and whether it's related to lactose intolerance. Additionally taking a medication like simethicone 1/2 hour after meals helps prevent gas buildup. If you have persistent symptoms despite these measures, consult a gastroenterologist for evaluation and advice. ...Read more

Lots of gas, bloating and green stools. Am taking a multi vitamin, the occasional antacid and codfish oil. Could these be causing the green stools?

Yes: Codfish oil (cod liver oil) can speed up the transit of food
thru the gastrointestinal tract if taken in too high a dose.
Bile is green in color. As it travels thru the gut it's color is changed, eventually to brown. Greenish color can be the result of intestinal contents not remaining in the gut long enough to turn brown. Should return to normal color if codfish oil is stopped. SEE:abt. Cm/144EnVu ...Read more

21 w/ weekly recurring bouts of nausea and diarrhea + bloated + gas. Take Pepcid (famotidine) every day. Thinking excessive use of antacid? Clean endoscopy

Pepcid (famotidine) use: Pepcid will tell the parietal cells in the lining of your stomach to not produce so much acid. It has nothing to do with diarrhea or gas production. You can take imodium (loperamide) (OTC) to reduce the diarrhea and you probably have sloffed off the inner lining of your gut bec of the chronic diarrhea so you lost the enzyme (Lactase) which breaks down lactose. E. coli in your gut probably causing the gas (CO2) ...Read more

I am on the zpac antibiotics for bronchitis and I know I can't take antacids, but I have heartburn and am wondering if gas-x is considered a antacid?

No: No, gas-x is fine with zithromax, it is not an antacid. Antacids would be considered things like tums, rolaids, maalox, etc. If you're having minor heartburn, you could take Pepcid or zantac, (ranitidine) those are not antacids, either, and can be taken with zithromax. ...Read more

Taking Citalopram (20mg) and zyprexa (olanzapine) (2.5mg) and have sulphur smelling gas every night. Eating more, can a change in diet cause this bad smelling gas?

Side effects?: I don't believe that any of those meds are the direct culprit of your discomfort. At the same time, since Zyprexa (olanzapine) increases the craving for carbohydrates and hyperphagia (eating excessively), this med can be a factor. Many people on medications that might cause a metabolic syndrome are advised to consult with nutritionists to solve the problem. I suggest to consider this recommendation. ...Read more
