It may: Zantac (ranitidine) has been shown to affect breath h.Pylori test, although, not to the same degree as proton pump inhibitors (prilosec, Prevacid and their ilk). Zantac (ranitidine), pepcid, tagamet must be withheld for at least 48-72 hours prior to that that. Maalox is ok to take. ...Read more

Pylori infection, possibly gastritis, but keep in mind that in kids an abdominal pain can be a symptom of wide variety of problems including anxiety and depression.
