Standing up: if you are standing up too long this could also impact your ankle and foot joints and cause swelling. Also depending on the type of shoes you wear. Good question: I don't think this is a typical symptom. Hence, i would go to a doctor for an exam. It is possible you have a stress fracture. If there is pin point pain along the leg this is a possibility. This could be seen on x-ray though MRI is more sensitive. If it turns out you do have your vitamin d levels checked. Time of injury: That depends on how long ago your ankle was injured. If it is in the past several days and it generally is getting better than you can wait. If it has been several weeks then i would suggest a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. Traveled on plane for two hours had left ankle swelling for a couple of days now my calf hurts. what could it be?
Several things: Most worrisome is a clot in the deep veins of the leg. Need ultrasound of the deep veins in the leg to assess this. Esp if swelling still there and calf pain still there.
