More than a sprain: Who diagnosed the high ankle sprain? A bump on the heel not usually associated with high ankle sprain. Pain and deformity in the back of the ankle suggests an achilles injury or even heel bone fracture. A true high ankle sprain should always be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon because sometimes they need surgery if the ligaments between the tibia and fibula are completely torn. ...Read more

Ankle smankle: You need to describe the location of the ankle tendonitis. Is it front, back, inside, outside painful to stand or move? What was done to confirm the diagnosis of tendonitis. NOrmal: Pain and swelling after a combined fracture/dislocation can persist for months. Follow up with ortho doc and xrays is required and pt is almost manidtory to regain motion and function. The numbness associated with a fracture sprain usually come from stretching the nerve(s) and may take up to a year to resolve. ...Read more

Stretches do help: A fellow sufferer here, as well as several MDs in our practice. The stretches on the link below do help, you will see progressive improvement. We all had a great deal of success with them.
