Ankle Pain Worse At Night
Ankle sprain, pain gets worse at night when I lie down and I always wake up in the night after I've moved my foot in an awkward position, help please?
Keep free & elevate: Staying in a position for a prolonged period can cause a sprained ankle to feel stiff and aggravate pain. You can try keeping the ankle out from under the covers so it's not "restricted" or could try elevating it up on a couple pillows while sleeping - elevation also helps with relieving swelling and overall pain. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Mind focus on pain: When you are quiet and trying to fall asleep, you become more aware of pain and that is one reason why you perceive more pain at rest. Also, with some forms of arthritis motion helps pump the fluids out of the area so there is less pressure on nerves when active. At rest, when the body is repairing the damage from activitity, inflammation or extra fluid enters the joint thus causing pressure. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Where in ankle?: Posterior impingement pain from a prominent bone (os trigonum) or tendon (fhl) impingement can be worsened with activities that involve repetitive flexing like driving. Having the ankle in a dependent position for prolonged periods can aggrevate a variety of conditions. If bad enough, see an orthopaedic ankle specialist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Deep ankle pain at times a soreness. Sometimes worse with dorsiflexion. Worse on days I run and I noticed that I tend to overpronate sometimes.
Cartilage injury: Although it is unusual to have early arthritis at such a young age it is possible that an injury to the Cartlidge of the ankle took place even while in school and now impact as well as dorsiflexion can apply pressure to the Cartlidge of the dome of the talus or The distal tibia. Usually anti-inflammatories will help as well as icing and elevating but impact sports may be a bad idea ...Read more

Unmake it worse-: -means it got it better. But I kno what U mean. Lisfrank fractures R quite unstable, and is Cn in football, or other sports when the foot is hyper flexed, & often needs surgery depending on Ur activity level. It should B followed by an ortho surg, not an ER Doc or PCP. If it is acute, get in 2 have it rechecked even if it did not cause an increase in pain. Left hip and left ankle pain at dawn every night for the past week. No injury. What is the cause?
VERY HARD TO ANSWER:
With no injury a hands on exam is needed. Could be due to phlebitis as a woman in your age group. Your PCP is a good place to start. More so if by the end of the day you have swelling of that leg. You would see imprints from sox, or shoes fitting tightly by end of the day.
good luck! ...Read more
