Ankle Pain After Fracture Healed
Ligament/tendon sprain ankle 7 weeks ago. Xray- no fracture. Never immobilized. Swelling/pain remains around medial malleo. esp after activity. Ideas?
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
This is common.: This is a common finding after such a surgery. The major concern is to be on the look out for a d.V.T or clot in the leg. This would typically cause swelling of the leg and pain in the calf. The foot swells as the motion in the extremtiy is limited. The pain in the hip after the procedure is expected. Stress fracture- 3rd metatarsal- still not healed after 13 weeks boot, crutches. Specialist? (is surgery necessary?) or a cast to further immobilize?
Specialist : stress fractures are still fractures and need 6-8 weeks to heal. If you are still having pain then the reason for it happening needs to be looked into. Stress fractures can be recurring as it is from a response to too much force in an area not meant for that pressure. They typically do not go on to outright fracture and do not need surgery. See a foot specialist too clarify why it's still there ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
