Ankle Lump Causes
I have a medium to small lump right above the left side of my ankle on my left leg. It is not painful at all. Any ideas of what it is?
I have a medium: It could be a cyst which is filled with fluid and can happen after an injury or almost jello type tissue if you have had it for a while or a lipoma, that consists of fatty tissue, both cause no problems. However, if the lump is getting bigger or is not going away, best to see a podiatrist or a surgeon, get an ultrasound and/or an MRI to find exactly what it is. ...Read more

I have a brown discolored lump on my lower left shin near my ankle. Its swollen, it hurts and warm to touch and causes my ankle to swell. Please help!
Possible Abscesses: It sounds like you may have some abscesses with or without cellulitis. You may need antibiotics and possible drainage of the abscesses if they are fully formed. In the meantime analgesia like paracetamol and ibuprofen will help but also running the area under hot water and soap as often as it is convenient should help. You should let a doctor take a look at it. ...Read more
Please help! Pain on my left leg and also a lump of something. Could you explain the cause of this?
Can U Be specific?:
Where in the leg is the lump? Leg is between the knee and ankle joints. It could be anything, arising from skin, fat, muscle or the bone. If its near a joint then it could be from joint tissues.
If there is any injury to it, then it could be a collection of blood or fluid, which will improve over 2 weeks time, otherwise you need to see a doctor to have it checked. ...Read more

I'm a runner and have had a lump -dime size on the side of my foot for about a year. Causes no pain. Not going away. Should I be concerned?
Don't mess with it.: If you are running painlessly with a dime size lump on your foot, I see no reason to have someone fool with it. The lump will do one of three things. Go away, stay the same or enlarge. Two out of three ain't bad. Leave it alone unless the nature of the lump changes radically. ...Read more
I have a lump right above my leg crease in the hip area (not sure what that area is called exactly)it's been there 6 months and causes pain?
New lump? Get seen!: It is hard to say what this could be by the limited description possible in the short questions allowed here. However, any mass that is new and does not go away in 4-6 weeks, needs to be evaluated to make sure it is nothing serious. How serious is impossible to say, but since it is causing pain and is new, you need to be examined in person soon! Good luck! ...Read more

I have a lump/bump on the lower side on my leg on both legs. What may this be and what may be the cause?
Lumps: If the lumps are quite similar in character, size and are on the same location on each leg, they probably are benign and nonpathological. However a physician would have to examine the lumps in order to make a diagnosis. A nonsymetrical Lump in the lower leg may be a varicose vein, inclusion cyst or even small herniation of tissue through a muscle. ...Read more
Contemplating if I should go to the emergency room for a lump in my back that I believe cause great pain throughout my lower back, butt, & left leg?
No Need for ER visit: Pain in the distribution as you suggested describes the pattern of the nerve that travels in the leg called the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is not the cause of the pain source, it is the result of an irritated nerve typically in the lumbar spine (low back) which are caused by herniated disks, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease requiring further evaluation by a spine specialist. ...Read more
I have a rock hard lump on shin about halfway down my leg. Sort of feels attached to bone. What could cause this?
Periosteal hematoma: If you had some local blunt trauma to your shin, the periosteal coating that surrounds the bone ("hot dog casing") is injured. As it is very vascular, it will bleed and can bulge and create a lump or hematoma. If it does not subside over the course of days to weeks, you should be evaluated ...Read more
Got a small lump on my tibia two weeks ago. It moves with the skin, not attached to the bone. Causes other pain in my leg, as high as my glute.
How small?: If not attached to bone, this my be a skin cyst or small skin growth called dermatofibroma. It would be unusual for a small growth on the tibia, to cause pain going up to your glut in your buttocks. IS it red or warm? Any pain that persists deserves to be examined by a docctor. ...Read more

What would be the cause of a reoccurring warm sensation in my calf. Sometimes it's is also just a feeling there. Not lumps, bruises, my leg looks norm?
What you describe: May be what we call a "dysaesthesia". This is a sensation we perceive that doesn't have any obvious cause. Pain from an injury is NOT a dysaesthesia b/c there's an obvious cause. Dyasethesias are often caused by inflammation, pressure or overreaction of the nerves that send impulses from a specific part of the body to the brain. Determining a specific diagnosis or cause requires a medical eval. ...Read more
I'm a 28 yr old male with right testical lump and pain it harts when I lean agaist my right leg what could be the cause that it harts I do a lot of lifting at my job
There are five reasons for a painful testicular mass that are very concerning:
- testicular torsion: when the testicle twists on itself and cuts off its blood supply,
- testicular cancer
- epidiymitis: inflammation of the epididymus often caused by infection
- strangulated inguinal hernia
- acute orchitis: infection of the testes
other less concerning reasons for a testicular mass include hydrocele, varicocele, and spermatocele, but these tend to not be painful.
Bottom line: you should call your doctor and be seen as soon as possible. If you are having severe pain, fever, and/or vomiting, you should go to the emergency room. ...Read more

Many causes: Lump after injury can be hematoma which generally resolves or it can be subperiosteal hematoma generally over the shin which can calcify and become hard One can have damage of the Fascia of the muscle and muscle herniation which will be a soft lump most likely that muscle herniation is the reason for the lump below the previous one Get it checked by your doctor to be sure Good luck ...Read more

I have a lump on my right leg at the side just above my knee. It causes me some disconfort when I have been on my feet for a few hours (im a waitress)?
Not urgent: There are many causes for knee pain. I suspect this may be a bursitis if it's tender, or joint swelling if not. I would try some physical therapy for now, unless you have a history of cancer (personal or family) or experience other symptoms like chills, fevers, etc. If concerned would see a family doc for quick screen, or physiatrist or orthopedic doc for definitive answer ...Read more
