Unlikely: The treatment of your ankylosing spondylitis should include anti-inflammatory medication!!! This should also be sufficient to treat your ankle/tendon swelling unless something ELSE is going on (eg GOUT can be worsened by some anti-inflammatory medications) Consult with your Rheumatologist! Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more

What is spondylitis I am having back surgey again on jan 7 will this helpy pain in back i no it will help leg pain removing 2disc and using spacers?

That is Arthritis of: The spine. The surgery you mentioned will help relieving the leg pain by freeing the pinched nerve and may help the back pain as well. Its important to relieve the pinched nerve otherwise the nerves will be permanently damaged. The spacers will help and probably reduce the chances of developing the facet joint arthritis or from making the arthritis worse. Good luck in your forthcoming surgery. ...Read more

That's a long reach: Multiple myeloma would likely show 'holes' in bones on x-ray.Spondylitis is inflamation of vertebral jts which has nothing to do with myeloma.Pain in hip/leg can have many causes: nerve inflammation, piriformis syndrome, vertebral malfunction causing sciatica, SI ligament laxity, herniated disc, etc.A good history & phys.incl osteopathic hands-on exam may provide some answers.Manipulation may help ...Read more

Conservative: Ankylosing spondylitis is a progressive condition mainly treated by rheumatologists. It is not due to trauma, but can be aggravated by trauma. The spine slowly auto-fuses and becomes stiff, but can also develop a kyphoscoliotic curvature. There are exercises designed to maintain posture, but in severe cases surgery may be required to correct spinal imbalance. ...Read more

What's it mean if on whole body X-ray there is no defects except spondylitis? Now has severe pain on hip and leg muscles.can it be multiple myaloma?

Doubtful: Spondylitis or spondylosis? Most commonly seen would be spondylosis, which simply means degenerative (aging) changes in the spine, which is normal at your age. If you have pain in your hips and legs, there may be pinched nerves in your spine, which may require further workup i.e. MRI. Unlikely to be multiple myeloma, since that would typically show characteristic lesions on whole body x-ray. ...Read more

How is ankylosing spondylitis differentiated from ddd? Have diagnosis of ddd&psoriatic arthritis. Leg weakness for years. New med for psa has eliminated. As?

One is part of other: As is a inherited condition that results in calcification of the disk spaces throughout the spine. This gives the term "bamboo spine". This is a form of ddd. The leg weakness can come from canal or foraminal stenosis related to this. Ddd is a part of as. Imaging can help with the diagnosis and surgery is the last option. If you dislocate your ankle, how long does it take for it to completely lose blood supply?

The more severe the injury to the talus, the higher the risk of avascular necrosis, or the "death of bone". The hallmark sign is to look for osteoporosis (radiolucent signs) on xray at 6-8 weeks after injury. ...Read more
