Let see if i can hel: When of the things could be the problem that he have ligament injury which did not healed. Other things could be have a small fracture of the cartilage in the talus did not healed. Check it out, both could be diagnose with MRI of the area. ...Read more

Let me explain: I do not know you numbness, could from the scar you have pinching the nerve, sometimes we try injecting this scar with steroid that will for treatment and diagnosis, if it help? This way we know what is the problem. Pain in ankle joint after talus injury it is very common, there are two sources for that, arthritis after injury and case called avascular necrosis. Effusion: It sound like you have an effusion in your ankle. Previous trauma? Swelling in the joint or in the surrounding tissues of your ankle? A painless swollen monoarthritis should be investigated w/full exam to see if you have any infection rheumatological sx or diabetes, may progress to polyarthritis. X-rays and joint aspiration may be needed. You will need to rest , ice, elevate and compress ankle. ...Read more

Get into C an ortho: Bing new 2 running U may have started 2fast 2long of runs, & could lead 2 a stress fracture of the talus. Rest in the early stage would B a clue, & also when running if U start out ok initially, the distance 2 pain becomes shorter, eventually it hurts right away. If images R done early, may= neg. If still suspected, a bone scan will B+. Also MR but costs more. ...Read more

WHAT???: I have never heard a doctor use the term "salient" to describe the talus. The talus is one bone, not two, and salient means "something that projects outward or upward from its surroundings." so, if your talus is in an abnormal position it could cause pain, but you need to get a better explanation on the cause.
