Are GMOs linked to cjd or mad cow diease?

Are GMOs linked to cjd or mad cow diease?

No: That's fantasy. There are reasonable opponents of genetically modified organisms, but alleging that they cause prion disease is simply making things up -- and there are plenty of militants of every camp who do this sort of thing. ...Read more

What is sporadic creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd)?

What is sporadic creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd)?

Sporadic CJD: Sporadic creutzfeldt-jakob disease (scjd) this is believed to occur spontaneously. This disease process begins when endogenous prion proteins, consisting of mostly alpha-helical and a small portion of beta-pleated sheet structure, spontaneously change shape into predominantly beta-pleated structures, called proteinaceous infectious particles or prions. It is not yet known how the prion forms from. ...Read more

What is iatrogenic creutzfeldt-jakob disease (cjd)?

Physician inflicted: This is usually a disease that is passed by direct contact. However, iatrogenic means that the disease is caused by the action of a physician. Should i be worried about cjd? I'm always paranoid about these types of diseases. How rare is it and what races are affected?

CJD not a danger: Creutzfeld-jacob disease (cjd) is very rare...1 out of 2 million get it. It is usually spontaneous (like cancer). Not contagious unless surgical instruments are not sterilized after cjd brain surgery, or transplants taken from a cjd patient...Or you are a cannibal that eats cjd infected brains...So it is not worth worrying about. It is easy to diagnose with ekg and brain scans if suspected. ...Read more

In creutzfeldt jacob disease (cjd) and/or new variant cjd, is the classical/alternate complement pathway negatively affected in any way?

No: There's no inflammatory response to the prions. Given that everything affects everything else in a petri dish (which is why everything supposedly causes and prevents cancer), i must advise you that this line of inquiry isn't going to lead to anything helpful. I'm glad you have an inquiring mind, thanks for asking. ...Read more

My mom was diagnosed with Pick disease but doing research I see it is similar to Lewy and CJD. Is the life expectancy similar. Worse because bad fall.

My mom was diagnosed with Pick disease but doing research I see it is similar to Lewy and CJD. Is the life expectancy similar. Worse because bad fall.

Archaic terminology: I presume your Mom has progressive cognitive decline, and statistical considerations would include Alzheimer's, vascular and mixed dementias, and perhaps Dementia with Lewy bodies. CJD is a prion infection, and relatively uncommon. You need a second opinion, as the diagnosis you expressed does NOT truly exist, as concepts have changed. ?Concierge or INBOX consult to expand on this? ...Read more
