Can you tell me of any angular cheilitis treatments?

Chapstick: Typically most moisturizing ointments will help. It is usually a form of chapping from saliva "drooling", licking the corners of your mouth etc.

Is there an over-the-counter medication that I could go purchase at CVS for Angular cheilitis?

Is there an over-the-counter medication that I could go purchase at CVS for Angular cheilitis?

Some medicine cream: A person with signs of angular cheilitis can be checked by a doctor to see if there is a lip eczema problem, an oral herpes problem, or signs of vitamin deficiency. Angular cheilitis is the cracking at the corners of the mouth, with some inflammation and probably some candidal yeast overgrowth. A little clotrimazole antifungal cream and a little hydrocortisone cream for week can make it better.

How long does angular cheilitis take to heal? Dry, scabby & flaky which make it hard to eat & smile. Caused by accutane? It's very aggravating. Tips?

Takes time: No quick remedy. Here are some pointers. Do not lick that area, if you do...may cause worsening. You may try B complex vitamins daily. Topical canker sore meds/ applications may help. Nothing definitive really. Do not expose to cold and avoid dryness.

What causes angular cheilitis and how can itbe treated?

What causes angular cheilitis and how can itbe treated?

Yeast: This problem is also called perleche and is caused by moisture trapping in the corners of the mouth. First, try applying some otc ketoconazole 1% cream once daily at bedtime. This should clear quickly (3-5 days). This is usually a chronic condition so the using the cream on a regular basis may be needed. If this doesn't fix the problem, see you doctor for help.

How to treat angular cheilitis?

Antifungals: The cause is secondary to overgrowth of microorganisms at the corners of the mouth (usually the yeast candida albicans). The treatment is to treat the yeast with medicine such as Nystatin and/or by addressing some of the causes which lead to the overgrowth in the first place (excessive saliva pooling at the corners of the mouth). See your dermatologist and/or dentist for evaluation.
