I'm a 32 y/o f with angiokeratoma on labia majora. What causes this? Is there an affordable treatment? If treated is it likely to recur?
Symptoms?: Angiokeratomas are benign skin lesions of capillaries (tiny blood vessels). I am not sure what causes them. Most patients are without symptoms and do not require treatment. However, intermittent bleeding, itching, and pain can occur. Laser therapy is one outpatient treatment. Excision and grafting may be needed, which should be definitive therapy. ...Read more

Angiokeratomas: Angiokeratomas are common and can be confused with pearly papules & vice versa. They're a non-problem, just like some guys have freckles on their faces -- many guys with freckles like them. You can have them lasered or frozen off by a dermatologist if you wish. Instead, why not keep them and make the decision once you're in a stable marriage? ...Read more

What causes angiokeratomas on vulva? Dr says these are rare for women, so what caused me to develop them and how to treat? Are they cancerous?
They just happen: Don't worry about fabry's if you don't have them elsewhere. I suspect there's a genetic component. There's a counterpart in men who get them on the scrotum -- some guys get hundreds, most guys get none, they're actually not that rare on the vulva (though i'm a pathologist and I tend to see a lot of stuff) and they have no premalignant potential. ...Read more

I have purple bumps on my labia, 4 raised, some just dots. They don't hurt, but bleed. Angiokeratoma or kaposi sarcoma or herpes? I'm very worried!
Possibly: see MD: This does not sound typical of a herpetic lesion but could be either of the other two. What concerns me is that you are asking about two very unusual lesions that suggest unprotected and risky sexual behaviors. Use of condoms may help to diminish this risk. To confirm the presence of these possible diagnoses you will need to see your gynecologist for an exam and possible biopsy. ...Read more
