Full width radial sagittal band tear in my middle finger. What's the normal recovery time from surgical repair? Options besides surgery? Thanks!

Full width radial sagittal band tear in my middle finger. What's the normal recovery time from surgical repair? Options besides surgery? Thanks!

Options:: Typically, if you have a "full-thickness" or "full-width" tear of pretty much anything, I recommend having a surgeon take a look. Soft tissues can often heal if there is still a portion remaining untorn. But when the whole thing is in 2 pieces, it has to be put back together. Because it's a finger, (unless ur a musician, etc) id think u should b able to be mostly active in a few days at most. ...Read more

What is the normal testicle size of a adult in CM ?Husbands left testicle length 2.99 width 1.7 depth. 1.9 right length 3.4 width 1.9 depth 1.9.

What is the normal testicle size of a adult in CM ?Husbands left testicle length 2.99 width 1.7 depth. 1.9 right length 3.4 width 1.9 depth 1.9.

Some variability: Average/normal testicular size for alduts is about 2 inches in length & about 0.9 - 1.2 inches in width and breadth. 2.99" & 3.4", assuming your husband's testicular measurements are in inches would be very large, or small if measurements in centimeters. Should consult a urologist if testes enlarged after puberty, in case he has a testicular malignancy. Benign enlargement ?Due to hydrocele fluid. ...Read more

Have had 3 vulvar biopsies, 1st time was punch biopsy the others were not (special tool to carve out biopsy freehand + stitches) what's thedifference?

Have had 3 vulvar biopsies, 1st time was punch biopsy the others were not (special tool to carve out biopsy freehand + stitches) what's thedifference?

Size and location...: A punch for doing punch biopsies has a round cutting surface. They come in different sizes from 1mm to 6mm and up. Its a quick way to take a vulvar biopsy. But your doc can also use a scalpel or a pair of scissors to take a biopsy. It really depends where the problem is and what is best for the circumstances. A scalpel and stitches is usually used for larger biopsies. Best wishes! ...Read more

Surgeons repair Mitralvalve narrowing its diameter can it restrict the blood flow impacting exercise?Afew surgeons don't reduce Diameter, best option?

No: If the repair is done at a center of excellence, the outcomes are usually very good. A repair is almost always preferred to a replacement if feasible. If you are experiencing symptoms, I would recommend a follow up echocardiogram to evaluate the mitral valve. ...Read more

Does anyone at this location have plenty of experience performing hysterscopic myomectomies the traditional way versus the robotic way?

Does anyone at this location have plenty of experience
performing hysterscopic myomectomies the traditional way versus the robotic way?

Yes: A hysteroscopic myomectomy is the best approach for submucosal fibroids < 3.5 cm located inside the cavity of the uterus. The robotic myomectomy is best for subserosal fibroids that are coming from the outer surface of the uterus. For fibroids deeply embedded in the wall of the uterus, robotic myomectomies are possible but more difficult so consider a hysterectomy if childbearing is complete. ...Read more

Does HSG image abnormality inside of tube, i.e. narrowing, subtle blockage that cannot be imaged by laparoscopy dye injection? Is there need for HSG if laparoscopy says tube is open (ectopic history)

Does HSG image abnormality inside of tube, i.e. narrowing, subtle blockage that cannot be imaged by laparoscopy dye injection? Is there need for HSG if laparoscopy says tube is open (ectopic history)

Open not shut case: If the Fallopian tube was patent(open) at Laparoscopy then the HSG concern is a "shut" case. Actual indigo carmine dye extruding from the tube itself with eyeball visualization is ALWAYS better then X-ray HSG dye study with indirect observations. ...Read more
