Pain vs pruritis ani: If you've re opened the fissure you will have pain with each bowel movement. You may just have pruritis ani, which an uncomfortable itching around the anus. Usually the person affected will try to keep the area clean by washing it , thereby irritating the area even more. Yeast: Any area were skin meets skin tends to become moist. This can allow for our own natural surface bacteria and yeast to grow. Yeast often tend to overgrow and cause itching. Too clean!: The most common cause of anal itching is excessive washing, resulting in a dry, chapped anus. The best way to deal with this is to leave it alone.
