I have an anal fissure with lots of pain and bleeding. What do I do

U will need something to help relax the internal sphincter muscle as we do not have control over this and it goes into spasm when it hurts. Diagnosed with anal fissure, is there any pain relief ointments that can be used? Currently using glycerine suppositories.

Anal fissures no fun: Anal fissures are like paper-cuts. They can bleed, hurt, & recur, particularly with defecation & other activities that increases pelvic pressure. Disorders of anal-rectal function, straining at hard stool, prolonged sitting, heavy lifting, long distance walks/runs should be avoided. If stool softeners, fiber & behavior changes don't cure, can use topical nitrate or diltiazem with anesthetic agent. ...Read more
