Irritants: Both of those medications can irritate the stomach lining and should be taken with food. In addition,it's protective to take prilosec when on prednisone to guard against ulcer formation. Tachypnea: There are several possibilities including Allergy to Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and or Pneumonia . If you are extremely short of breath you need to go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Take either: I can't recall any reason not to use either medicine for your discomfort. They should have no effect at all on the activities of the antibiotic. Your stomach meds work there & the capsule encases the abx so it glides past the stomach so it avoids the stomach acid. It is absorbed in the intestines before it starts to work. ...Read more
