Day 5 of omnicef (cefdinir) for sinus infection, feeling worse, congested, drainage, headache, fatigue, nausea..is this normal?
Yes, pretty normal: Most sinusitis isn't due to bacteria, but to viruses, allergy, etc, and antibiotics like cefdinir (Omnicef) have no effect. Your doctor probably thought it was worth a try, but maybe didn't really expect it to help much. Nasal or oral decongestant and hydration (saline nasal spray) may be more effective. Or maybe a different antibiotic, e.g. azithromycin. Discuss with the doctor. ...Read more

Most likely viral.: Tjese are all symptoms of a viral illness. It is not clear as if you went to the office or ER. It appears to that the doc has done the average workup and you may need to work it out. The amoxil (amoxicillin) will not treat a virus. See what your doc recommends next Best wishes. ...Read more

Diagnosed with URI and sinusitis. Been sick a month! Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) not working. Congestion, runny nose, extreme fatigue, blurred vision. Please help!
Finished full amoxicillin dose for sinus infection. 2 days after have nausea and diarrhea. Also abnormally tired. Medication side effects?
Sore throat, headache, neck pain, malaise, & fatigue x15 days. Neg. strep test, no fever. Taking amoxicillin w/no help. Possible causes?
Needs work-up: For symptoms that are ongoing like that- I think of several possibilities. One would be mono- and that's an easy one (mono-spot test). Not sure if you have risk factors for HIV but I would test you for that too. Other viruses such as enterovirus or adenovirus could cause these symptoms, but usually not this long. REST may help you. Would check back with doc prescribing Amoxicillin-probably stop it ...Read more
Been taking Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for strep throat and also taking Lo Loestrin Fe. Missed 3 or 4 days of taking Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and I'm having vaginal bleeding? Normal?
Call your doctor: It is not good to miss doses of your antibiotic when treating strep throat. You risk getting rheumatic heart disease. You must take all 10 days and may have to start again, ask your doctor about it. And an antibiotic can cause irregular periods. If irregularity persists through your next cycle or two, see your doc about this, too. ...Read more
21 m old boy, 2 ear infections, high fever, bad cough, runny nose, congestion, irritability, sore throat. Loss of appetite on amoxil (amoxicillin) for 3 d no change?
May be viral: Most ear infections, up to 85%, are caused by viruses that won't respond to ab. There is also the possibility that his infection is due to a bacteria that's resistant to amoxil (amoxicillin). When you say he has been on 3d of Amoxil (amoxicillin) are you counting the first day as the day you started the medication? If so then he has only had 2 days worth and it might be that you need to give amox more time. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
