Amoxicillin: Rare side-effects include mental changes, lightheadedness, insomnia, confusion, anxiety, sensitivity to lights and sounds, and unclear thinking. Immediate medical care is recommended with these side-effects. But if this has been happening for years and you have been taking it regularly for some reason it is unclear what is going on. If this is occasional, would stop taking it right now. ...Read more

Is dizziness and faint feeling normal for taking amoxicillin?

Amoxacilin: That is not a normal reaction to amoxicillin. The fact that you do not have any skin rash or shortness of breath makes it unlikely that it is a drug reaction. However I would stop the amoxicillin and if the symptoms persist go to the ER. ...Read more

I have been feeling ery weird and dizzy lately. I just got over a sinus infection. I am taking amoxicillin 2g a day. Is this a side effect of the meds?

Probably not the med: Though meds can cause dizziness. In this case, in light of the sinus infection...I usually see it coming from the fact that the sinus drainage, causes some inflammation and swelling around the opening for the eustachian tubes, and this causes the middle ear to not drain adequately, and the build up of fluid and pressure...Often leads to the dizziness. ...Read more

Otoscope!: The easiest way to figure this one out is have someone look in your ear with an otoscope. It's most likely wax build up or fluid trapped behind your eardrum. If you're in pain, it' could be an infection. Hope this helps! ...Read more

I've been dizzy for 3 days now what could it be I've been on amoxil (amoxicillin) and dexamethasone for 6 days now for sinus and throat infection?

Anything: Your dizziness can have any cause at this time. Change in blood pressure especially when you change positions, known as orthostatic hypotension. Side effects of medication is possible too, especially dexametasone. I'd stop (it sounds an overkill to treat sinus/throat infection for that long with it). Also, make sure you drink plenty of fluids and take over-the-counter probiotic with your ab. ...Read more

Can getting the flu shot while fighting a tooth infection with amoxicillin make you sick and cause vestibular weakness heart problems, dizziness etc?

No likely: Antibiotics do not interact with vaccines. It is safe to take them and get a flu shot. If you do have a reaction to a flu shot, the more likely reason for such symptoms would be an allergic reaction to a component of the vaccine. Contraindications to the flu shot include pre-exisiting allergies to gentamicin, neomycink polymnixin, thimersal, polysorbate 80, high fever, and others... ...Read more

I was recently diagnosed with significant vestibular weakness of the left ear... I had a bad tooth infection almost a year ago. And I was givin amoxicillin as a antibiotic, every since I took that pill I have been experiencing dizziness, palpitations et

Sorry: It's unfortunate that you have these symptoms, but they are not related to your having taken amoxicillin. Sounds like you have already had some inner ear testing. If not, see an ENT physician and undergo inner ear testing as indicated (possibly including audiogram, ct scan, vng, etc.). Inner ear disorders are frustrating and can be hard to sort out but are fortunately rarely debilitating. ...Read more

4 weeks ago starting dizzy/ear ache. 1 week ago had tons sinus pressure. Dr gave amoxicillin for sinus infection then 3 days later developed vertigo/nausea. Why did I get vertigo/nausea?

VIRAL INFECTION: Your symptoms are consistent with an upper respiratory viral infection. Evidence over the last 2 decades demonstrate viral infection to be the cause of 98% of all upper resp. Infections. The nausea and vertigo suggest that you may have developed a viral infection of the inner ear. There is no specific treatment for this but it should resolve in a matter of weeks. Supportive treatment only. ...Read more

Decongestant, n.spray: I assume your amoxicillini dosage is 875 mg. It is only been less than 48 hours, it prob. Will need at least one or two more days. VIRAL INFECTION: Basic assumption is that your doctor gave you treatment for a bacterial infection. Inasmuch as 90 to 95% of upper respiratory infections are viral, there is no answer to your question. If you have a bacterial infection, it may take 3 to 5 days for you to feel well. With no culture of the nose and no pus in the nose, I believe you have a viral infection and think the antibiotic will not work. ...Read more

I've been taking Austell Amoxicilin for the past week prescribed to me by my doctor. Its making me dizzy, I have headaches and im always tired. Hlep?

Called your doctor?: Have you called the doctor to tell him you may be having medication side effects? If not, then, that should be your next move. If so, & the problem's still present then, maybe your illness is simply taking longer to respond to the medication or it may be the medication needs to be reviewed/changed.
